Bit late to reply on this one as the OP has it sorted.
*Yes i've replaced inlet manifolds on both 2.4lt and 2.2lt.
*The round blue inlet seals can be more prone to failing more so than the manifold cracking.
*Its more common for the seals to get a bit leaking over time, its not really a big issue, any of it.
Overall both the 2.4 and 2.2 are more reliable than just about anything else on the road, be it a Land Rover badge or not.
