    200tdi cylinder head search

    Hi all

Can anyone point me in the direction of a cylinder head for the 200tdi defender. Or what can be done if none are available such as putting a 300 on the 200 motor?

    Thanks in advance

You would need to find a complete 300tdi head all the attachments, injectors etc. You also need 300tdi piston crowns, due to different injector set up. No idea how well/bad it would run on 200tdi pistons.

Good luck finding a 200tdi head, they are out there but not many off the shelf.

Ashcroft is selling reman 200TDI heads.

You don't "need" 300TDI pistons for the head. Lots of people have run without them and not noticed any problems. It is not a bad idea though.

The "harder" part is dealing with the thermostat housing.

There are many items that you can’t get. No point going through life worrying about that. There is no reason that a head should ever need replacement unless you seriously overheat.

A few years back now I purchased an old 200tdi CH from ebay UK and had it delivered to Turner Engineering. It cost less than their core charge. On receipt they immediatly sent a performance head off the shelf. It arrived in Melbourne the same week.

It was a bit of a risk, the head on ebay could have been unservicable. Turner said it looked like it had sat in a field, but they could restore it - phew!

Just checked: Looks like you can still get them on ebay.uk for less than turner core charge.
