    1995 130 wipers no go

    Hi

sadly the wipers on the 130 have failed to proceed

they went coming home in the rain last Saturday but i managed to get them parked

turn them on a few days later and they did half a sweep and stopped and i havent been able to get them to proceed since.

checked the fuses etc and they are fine and there is 12v at the fuse etc.

do the switches or motors play up on a regular basis on these. i have never had an issue prior to this on any of mine so it isn't something i am familiar with.

at first clance the wiper motor looks like a pox of a thing to remove due to the air-conditioning duct ...

is there an easy way around this to check the motor etc ?

am off to look at wiring diagrams for the switch so i can check it out...

    1995 130 wipers no go

    Well that's fun

Getting to the wiper motor wasn't all that difficult thankfully and I found a couple of things

Am yet to check if there is still power to the plug that's gotten hot

Is the type of wiper motor

Can one just detach the wiper motor from the cable at the wiper motor or?

    TIA

    Incisor,

If you remove the 6 small bolts on the motor cover in the last picture the cable and its retainer will come out and then you can remove the motor.

How did you drop the air con? Was it just the self tappers along the top or are there some more substantial bolts underneath?

there are single bolts through the brackets on each side towards the top of the units. takes a 10mm socket on the door side and a10mm open end spanner on the side near the transmission tunnel.

will take a pic for you tomorrow if I get time to get near it.

Thanks incisor, yes a photo would be great. I think there is no support on the drivers side in my 300Tdi and i cant see anything passengers side but it is secure. In the Td5 the bolts are quite visible.

Well I appear to have made a rod for my own back

I should have used a socket on both sides and dropped the support bracket not the unit from the bracket

Oh well live and learn as they say

Unless I can pry the internal nut back to where it needs to be

Those nuts in the evaporator case are dead loose and can be pulled along by a bent paper clip or a magnet on a stick.
