Who has a Frontrunner Gullwing Box

I have a few items (such as my Thumper in car charger outlet) in the back of my Puma which have velcro stuck to them. I lined the back out with marine carpet so the hook component of velcro's hook and loop sticks really well. See in the bottom right corner of the attached:

For the Gullwing, if it has a loop type lining (ala marine carpet or even the wide velcro strips) you could make up some angle brackets out of aluminium (a tee section would be best) to use as adjustable partitioning. I'd also consider shock cord secured at each end and have some open hooks at convenient spacing to hold stuff in. The success of the storage would largely depend on having suitable containers I think.

I finally finished off and fitted my gullwing cupboard over the weekend.
I made it quite deep in the end so that I could still use some canvas bags that a lot of my camping/cooking gear is kept in.
These, along with the stove/burner will go down the bottom and the cups, plates, mugs, kettle, pans etc. will go on the shelves above. I've given up on the foam idea for the moment and going with some velcro backed bungee nets off fleabay to hold everything in place.
The plastic drawers will have tea, coffee, salt, pepper and other condiments in.
The top part overhangs on the inside so that there's more space for sleeping bags and other light stuff and in the gap underneath I will strap the couple of camping tables I have.

Only finished late on Sunday arvo so hasn't had a shakedown test yet, but I'm happy with how it turned out. Just for reference, this fine quality, slightly wonky workmanship is what the new cupboard is replacing.
Everything that fitted in/on this now goes in/on or strapped to the back of the gullwing cupboard.Attachment 148765

I love the idea of the gullwings ... however my only concern it that it blocks the view "over the left shoulder"

Which would mean mounting it on the right. That of course come with a bunch of other issues... like dangerous side to access things if you are on the side of the road.

However my awning is on the left - so that would be the logical place to put it .... unless I mounted the awning on the right, which would seem strange. [happycry]


So confused..

If you’re stopping that close to the side of the road for it to be dangerous there’s something wrong. Should be able to put anything, awning, Gullwing etc on the drivers side with no issue, just depends which side works out best for your setup.

Generally when touring the cargo area windows are covered therefore cannot really see through them......not that I do shoulder checks anyways, that’s what the external mirrors are for.

You can get glass gull wings.....we ended up with two glass and two solid, had to keep the bride happy.

I try and pull up where it’s safe......if not a full wing would be not more dangerous than opening your sliding window and way less dangerous than an open door.

Re: awning, we have two gullwings under our awning, great for accessing the fridge, oven, chairs and table.

Started to fill up the gullwing cupboard.
The Velcro backed nets from fleabay haven't arrived yet, but I'd also ordered some stretchy nets from organised Obie, so gave those a try, along with some stretchy cord taken off the old storage box.

Still got one of the plastic drawers to fill and all the area underneath.

Took it for a test down the bumpy, corrugated dirt road near work and everything was still where I put it, so happy with that!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...5438395078.jpg

Just wondering if anyone has the Frontrunner Gullwing box and what sort of weight it can handle / if its any good for a 12v setup? Was thinking if installing a lithium battery with solar controller / 240 charger.

I ended up going a different direction with storage.
I’m currently fitting a whole new storage system in my County, not quite finished but getting close.

With the Gullwings, I’ve gone for a combination of recovery gear storage, and still having access to inside the vehicle.
This is a prototype, so it’s not powder coated yet.
