70th Anniv. V8 Defender.

I don't know the details but JLR as a mass producer has probably different legal obligations to full fill as well as different options on limited productions. I assume date of first registration is the main key but they definitely need full engineering approval including full compliance regarding emissions. My 50th V8, I have overseas has a so called (and highly desirable) 'X' type homologation which in Switzerland s only given to prototypes or similar. We placed an order for another JLR product at the time when the 70th was announced and i asked the dealer in Melbourne who confirmed they can't be ordered via OZ full stop. Maybe a different story if you import your own from the UK but I wouldn't do it unless you get full support from LR here. On another note, the main manager has seen the Defender replacement a while ago in Spain. Lucky man! I have seen a batch of 70th's at JLR classic last August but was not allowed to take pictures.m

Of course cheaper. LS crate engines are cheap full stop. They do power but definitely lack refinement. A pic of my L98 (one of the first engines sold as crate, then became LS3) fitted in 2008. As said they deliver but in terms of drive ability this is no match to current build V8 or handbuild Rover V8. m
