On my Td5, I simply elongated the mounting holes in the original bracket and remounted it closer to the door.

I put extenders on the doors of our now gone Puma and it made a big difference. Much wider opening made it easier for the cook to open the Engle lid to get me another coldie....
I had to replace wires in the doors (pink wire from memory) but don't think the extenders opened it so wide as to damage them.... more like crap wire in the first place from Ford.

As others have said, fit the mulgo kit for TD5 or early TDCi (puma).
The later TDCi (puma) dont need the kit as they open fully.
The harness on a TDCi (puma) will eventually fail regardless of door extenders or not.

The Mulgos are good, but as already mentioned try and make it firm so it doesn't have any push past 90 degrees as it'll dent the b pillar. My kids swing off the door. Ended up removing them once the kids got big enough to load themselves into the car.

Watch out for the doors getting pulled out of your hand in a strong wind - this is when they will hit the post.
