Ute tray for TDI 130 dual cab

    Hi
I can pick up a cheap Yota 79 dual cab tray . 1850 x1850. With trundle draw. Any one see any issues fitting this. The aim is to put my slide on camper on. Get rid of the tub. If anyone wants one. Heard there are issues with cracked mounts. Where are the correct mounting spots?

    Thanks

Have a search on defender tray threads
There is a LR Tray design document indicating the best way to mount trays

BUT having said that look to incorporate flexibility into what you do

What has worked for me is hard mounting along the rear crossmember
And then a solid cross member at the front with V8 engine mounts to the tray
The engine mounts allow some flexibility in the tray chassis vs Ute chassis contest

The 79 tray might work but you’ll have to establish the mounting
Chances are the cruiser trundle drawer will be wider than the Landy chassis rails

Whack a tape over the front mounts of the cruiser tray and see if you can make it work on the landy

I did a thread on my tray re-design a few years ago
It has been faultless apart from cheap chinka LED flood lights that have died!!!

One of the tray threads is here 130 DC Trays

As has been said, mount solidly to the rearmost crossmember and allow some flex on the forward mounts if you are using a solid steel tray and you should be right. Aluminium trays will probably flex enough to be less of an issue.

Have you got a few photos of the tray in question
A few photos and measurements and I reckon we could establish Whether it is worth pursuing this tray

Oh and FYI outside dimensions of 1850x1850 is a good size on a 130
So you have that off to a good start

My current 130 tray has a 235/85R16 spare, 2x80L tanks (one water one dieso) and a tool drawer under it between the rails.
There is good pace to use

My tray deck is a pretty standard Ally unit
I made custom longitudinal rails and mounts
