You will need a EGT guage.
Its insidious diesel temps. It rises and rises, without your knowledge.
A long steep hill, part throttle can easily raise a stock engine over a sensible EGT.
Bit of weight and all our 4wd are probably too heavy, head wind = big temps
Tuning can and does make it worse.
On my truck (Defender 130 2.2 Puma)changing down helps but really only 50 degrees or so knocked off.
Backing off once the alarm sounds the only real way too deal with the extra heat, drops real quick.
