Why would you "Skimp" on 3-4 litres of oil to bring up the oil level to the correct level, A LOT can happen over 3000K's and as your engine is using an inordinate amount of oil it makes complete sense to maintain a FULL sump Regardless of when the next service is due.[thumbsupbig]

Well it’s not like I’m going to put my head in the sand and not monitor the level until jus before it’s serviced. If it needs more I’ll add, I don’t think it’s a war stopper. I’m filling up with Castrol not sure what LRA use, Tombie and others have suggested different oils, quite happy to wait.

Why not simply service the engine early and try a different oil[thumbsupbig]
I service both of my 4WD's at 5000k intervals, A bit of oil an oil and fuel filter and occasionally a new air filter won't send you broke and it is pretty cheap insurance especially if you are using your 4WD for what it is designed for[thumbsupbig]
