I just replaced mine with a complete new unit recently.
From memory there should not be any problem .
Having trouble with the ignition and need to replace it. I presume I will need to cut the steering lock out and did not intend to replace it just a non genuine ignition key and lock. Any problems I might encounter in getting the steering lock out is there any thing else connected to it that requires a steering lock to be there. Peter

A local locksmith rebuilt one for me, back to original factory specs for a reasonable price.

To get the assy off you just drill out the two bolts [soft] You can refit it with two allen bolts , 8mm from memory
I've replaced them on Perenties from keyless to keyed. As noted above, drill out the tamperproof screws and remove. Quite easy.
