My uneducated guess would be to go into the mud and try it out.
If it doesnt seem to work, try it in reverse.
If it locks in reverse, youve installed it the wrong way about.
Hi
I have just finished installing a Detroit No spin locker into my 1996 Defender 130.
It was a bit of a job as I had to drop the axel due to the Long range tank being in the way.
But got it all done, unfortunately while packing away my tools, I found a label that I guess was attached to the Locker, that says the locker is rotational and must be installed the correct way round!
So my predicament is did I get it the right or the wrong way round?
It drives fine, not really noticeable it is even there.
Does anyone know if it would be obvious if I got it the wrong way round?
I don’t really want to spend another 7 hours removing it to check, but guess I might have to?
Any advice would be greatly received!
Cheers
Phil

Do you remember which side of the diff carrier the wing nut on the locker bolt that you remove was?
Also, i too have a long range tank, i jist disconnected my shock, jacked the car from the chassis up, put it on stands, took the wheels off, plenty of room to do the diff in situ then.
Hi
Yes I did as you say lowered the axel untill I had the space.
I have done all the tests recomended and all was correct, and it is supposed to work forwards and backwards.
Unfortunatly I do not remember which way round the wing nut was.
I have tried everyone connected to Eaton in Australia I could find, they all said they thought it was the wrong lable, but could not be sure as they have never heard of the lable.
I rang Eaton in the US and they too had no idear but are looking into it, they said the same if it works must be ok, but would confirm to me.
I will post the outcome.
Cheers
Phil
Hi
Finally got an answer from Eaton in the US, my No Spin is not directional, and can be installed any way round.
The lable was tied to the wrong No Spin!!!
Few, thats a relief!!

I to have been in contact with Eatons in the US, they would have to be the most useless company i have dealt with.
I had a query about my no spin, i even sent them pictures, they went on to tell me that they don't do a no spin, its not their locker, it must be dana, contact them. It wasn't until i emailed them a copy of their Eaton detroit no spin advertisment that they realised i was correct.
Now i have read a few threads of facebook about the detroit, and the topic of it being installed the correct way around has been mentioned.
