    Hi James,

What modifications do you recommend to overcome the intake restriction issues?

I was thinking about installing a RAI to help, but was confused when I read on the BAS site that their upgraded turbo can't be used with RAI's or words to that effect.

In all honesty I stop once the intake can't keep up, BAS are right for sure though, lengthening the intake system is only gonna exacerbate the problem.

You CAN make decent power without too many physical mods though, I know some have tried semi bypassing the MAF with another intake setup, but I don't understand the theory behind this as you (and the ecu) have literally no idea what fueling the engine needs, unless running the earlier EU2 engine which basically fuels using the "speed density" method.

In which case you don't really need a MAF to begin with for most applications now running.

Earlier tuners/tunes didn't "remap" the MAF on the EU3 so ran into limiter problems pretty quickly, this can now largely be sorted through tuning, so that's all I worry about...

    Cheers
    James

Thanks mate. I plan on running the 150 when towing. Be on the safe side.

I remember a few yrs back, when I had the BAS tune done to the D4,and a service,a few days later, she looked at the bill to log it into MYOB and asked me why it was bigger than usual,I told her it was just the 5 yr big service.
That was the end of that.

Funny thing was she drove it home that day from MR Auto, they are the other side of town.
Later that day she said gee the car seems to have some power.
My comment was they have probably put some injector cleaner stuff in the tank....

I don’t have that problem too much.
Mrs Tombie was the instigator of all the upgrades to the 90.

If she doesn't have "Husband" how would one get hold of her?
reminds me of the old ad - "wanted woman with Boat and motor - please send photos of Boat and motor"
except my add would read - "Wanted woman with fast TD5 defender - please send ECU Map of defender"

My sneaky plan is to take the Disco out to Bairnsdale and sit on the side of the road.. I'm patient.
