    110" 2.2 Puma AC Fan

I had an interesting thing happen recently on my 2.2 puma 110. The key jammed in the ignition and it took me nearly 3 hours sitting in a car park to get it started.
On the way home , I stopped at some traffic lights and the blower fan dropped from hi speed to low speed by itself. As soon as I took off again the fan went back to high speed!. About 5 minutes later it dropped to low speed again and stayed there. Looking at the wiring, there is 2 circuits for the fan, AC and fan only. I thought it may have been an issue through the pigtail on the ignition barrel, so I waited until I had the barrel changed but there was no difference. I ended up pulling the dash apart, and found a hot joint on the fan selector switch power plug. I pulled the selector switch out and the main 12v feed male pin was also black. I pulled the switch apart to find the plastic housing holding the copper plates inside that the slide switch slips between to engage each speed had deformed and wasn't sending power between speeds. I stretched the spring behind the contact pin, cleaned it all up, topped up the deformed copper plate with solder and it worked a treat. The only thing I can think of is as I had the fan motor fail last year, the high current load at the time caused the issue and over time it just ended up failing through the switch. Hope this helps if someone else has a similar problem

Can you say more about the key jamming in the ignition and could that be related to the other problem?
