it's an abomination for small sellers these days
sold my last thing on there ...
I guess I am not the only one sick of the bay. Currently they are holding money from what will be my last sale on the pretext of needing some info when I have an account with all the stuff lodged since they dumped paypal.
Just before that I made the mistake of buying parts from Tassie b4wd on the bay. Should have done it on their website. Two major items were free postage, with 'additional items free'. So I got a drain plug etc. Somehow the bay calculated $33 postage and I wanted it so added a note to fix/refund that. It all came in one box so the drain plug etc really did not deserve a postage charge.
I know, I should have just bought it off the b4wd website but we all make mistakes. I did send a message directly but have not heard anything. Maybe I am unreasonable but I would never let my customers be unanswered. Is this how it works these days? If so then that really is sad.

They have basically become a giant online retail store these days. Bear in mind also the the eucalypt store is owned by the bay. As much as I hate fakebook their market is so much better for sh stuff. But yeah, buy direct if at all poss.

I reluctantly started using Facebook after I realised that all the private sale stuff had disappeared from any other platform. I listed my old RTV Ute on Gumtree and have been inundated with unwanted hang up and scam phone calls ever since - lesson learned there too

The guys at British 4wd are really reasonable, I've always had good experiences but I always call them directly. I reckon just give them a call if you have an issue. As for ebay, definitely gone down hill, unless that is you want to buy cheap plastic from the PRC. Secret to selling sh on gumtree is to not post your phone number in the advertisement; filter any time wasters with the msg function and get the potential buyer to send you their contact number but call them with your caller ID turned off.
I'ts no biggie I can't see what the problem is.
Ebay calculated the postage and you got charged post for the small item that could have combined.
It's no big deal for the seller to issue a refund for that amount of the postage.
* if seller hasn't ticked free postage check box on posting the listing then it will be charged, maybe a seller oversight.
(Postage is never free as it costs seller money and will be built into price, as well as seller fees charged. It just attracts buyers thinking something is free.)
Seller just hits refund button enters an amount next to item number with a note saying refund for postage.
ebay then refunds the buyer that amount and seller gets the ebay fees that get they slugged with and get refunded those.
We do it all the time when customers don't wait ask for a combined postage and over pay, we just refund it.
I’ve just purchased from British 4WD in Tassie and it was the fastest eBay experience I’ve ever had.
Superb service, purchased yesterday, fitted to my Defender today, and really happy with the parts.
I realise your complaint is re postage cost, but just in case others read your complaint as being against British 4WD, it’s not my experience and I’ll certainly use them as a preferred supplier any time vs others on the mainland.
