Possible Adapter Shaft Fail - Puma

Today I was almost at home sitting at some traffic lights and took off in 1st and heard a loud bang from gearbox area.
I drove a few hundred metres, stopped that car, put it in 1st and then tried to start again in 1st. This time a louder bang and then no drive at all.
I engaged the centre diff, but still no drive.
When I engage the clutch and put it into gear I can hear a whirring noise.

Got my mate to tow me home.

    Car is a 2015 Puma. Done 82k.

Does this sound like the adapter shaft?

Mine's made a pretty good awful bang when the t-case slipped into neutral, but I'm with you, sounds like the adaptor shaft.

Thanks. I purchased a LOF Extreme output shaft some months ago.
The idea was to replace it before this happened.

I was less than 3kms from home. I consider myself lucky.

Now I need to find someone to fix it.

A good Indie is the go,if you put up where you are, someone should chime in with a place local to you.

The shaft did the same thing in the Puma in my sig,at 95000K,650Km from home....

MR auto sorted it here, and had about 25 in the same shagged condition out the back in a pile.

I just ordered a new LOF Extreme Clutch kit, should arrive next week. Then I can get someone to replace the output shaft and clutch at same time.
I'm located at Mt Eliza Melbourne. Anyone have recommendations in Melbourne.
Will need to get it towed there.

Les Richmond fitted my Ashcroft shaft - all went well. They were ok with me supplying it. Did a Clutchfix kit at the same time that, again, I supplied. Was very happy with their work.

But, they're now in Campbellfield, I think, and generally have a long lead time. No idea if they'll have experience fitting the LOF shaft but given the variety of work they do doubt it'd be much of a challenge.

Les Richmond replaced my shaft with an Ashcroft supplied by them, no failure just as a precaution before a long trip, as I had to get a new clutch as well. They know their stuff and I got it done there because they stock the Ashcroft gear. As noted by Skidrov they are very busy and could be weeks or even months to get in.

All other work on my 90 gets done at Eastern Ranges Prestige in Kilsyth ( used to be Roverland before Land Rover cracked down), Glen and crew are very good and much closer to home for me.

I've booked in with a local independent next week (assuming my LOF extreme Clutch arrives by then).
Conversation with this mechanic was very positive, he was very knowledgeable and he has fitted Ashcroft's before, but not a LOF.
Will let everyone know how it goes.

    Indie option

Mine suffered a similar fate a couple of years ago. I was on the way to get it fixed. AMV in Ringwood did the work on mine and did a great job. They even towed me in the last km after i lost all drive.
They also replaced the clutch at the same time because it was far easier to do that with everything out at the same time.
    cheers
