    Towing Mirrors

    Hello Everyone,
Can anyone tell me if the standard mirrors on the Defender 110 are satisfactory for towing a standard caravan? I know they can come out one click but not sure if this is enough for a standard sized van, If not which ones did you buy?
    Thanks.

It wasn't for me! And I made a set. (long since discarded since my caravan days are long over)

    I’d say no….

You can get extended arms (like the ones on the army 6x6) but have heard mixed reviews…..

We are one month into our lap and have come across a few towing caravan without wider mirrors…….

I tow a Jayco Swan, which is not quite as big as a full size van, and I do not find the standard mirrors adequate. I purchased a set of Milenco mirrors and they made a huge difference but I have too much trouble keeping them securely attached to the Defender mirrors. I am considering purchasing the extra long genuine mirror arms - I believe the aftermarket long mirror arms are not up to the job.

I purchased some that clip behind the window rubber, have a soft pad that sits on the door skin and a tensioning strap that clips under the bottom edge of the door.
I wasn't happy that they would probably damage the window rubber long term, then we sold the camper !

Something like those in the link below.

The other concern was that if something hit the mirror you'd damage the door skin.

Must have towing mirrors by law... If the Defer ones pull out far enough to see the sides of the van( apparently the trigger is the rear corner?) then Johnny Law may let you go,, but..

    other van "laws" are--
    waving to all other vans,
parking as close as possible to other vans at night,
only drinking after 4pm, and then in groups,
having tow mirrors the size of a fridge door,
    speeding up in overtaking lanes,

    OK
I have found a set for sale, genuine. $500 landed at my door, which was a lot more than what I wanted to pay, but as people have said the after-market ones were not up to the job, we will see with these ones. Hopefully it will be good.
I will post a review up here later for others to read.
    Cheers.

I can see down the sides using our Defender's standard mirrors, but we have a camera on the back of the caravan displaying on a dash mounted screen, so that is much better than mirrors.

Thanks for the reply, I have ordered the genuine LRover ones from Landybtiz so i will do a review once installed. Post office has them so hopefully they don’t lose the parcel like last time and it too them 6 weeks to deliver an express parcel which the post office deemed “ON TIME”. I made a complaint, nothing was heard back so i went to make another and i was told officially that “You can only make one complaint because if you make more than one then someone might get upset or offended”
