    Back door rattle

Hi all, I am new here. Owner of Gordon, my beautiful Defender TD5.
Gordon has a very rattly, noisy, annoying rear door to the wagon. Does anyone have any solution to the best way to fix this?
I am also after info on how to improve the suspension so he's not so bumpy.
    Thank you 🙂

The suspension set up on a Land Rover (not the New type) is designed to keep your wheels in contact with the ground at all times. You cannot avoid the non carlike ride that comes from this but you can mitigate it. Land Rover have listed an "extra ride comfort " set up as follows.
Land Rover 90 you can go to as low as 28 psi or 1.9 bar in the rear. For the 110 you can go as low as 32psi or 2.2 bar in the rear. This is fine for everyday usage but if you are going to load the Land Rover to it's maximum or tow a heavy trailer you must go back to normal pressures. So for every usage with the wife and kids the "comfort" settings will do.
The rattle in the rear door is more than likely caused by the locking mechanism, where the door latch strikes the receiver. The weight of the spare wheel on the rear door causes this over time but as the rear wheel on the rear door is part of the character of the Land Rover you work around this.
If you open the rear door and look at the receiving end of things you will see a small rubber block. If you undo the retaining screws and remove the rubber block you can insert some small washers to the top of the rubber block, reinsert it and tighten things up. This will grip the receiver of the door tighter and should sort your rattles.

    Thank you!
My husband put hydraulic suspension on his 4wd and suggested that I could maybe put hydraulic suspension on my defender, but from what your saying, that woul dbe a big fat no.
I will attempt to fix the back rattle of the door myself. It seems that maybe it's easy enough?
I didn't know if a mechanic or a smash repair type person needed to sort the back door, but maybe I can just fix it myself.
Thank you for taking the time to reply.
    Much appreciated
