It looks to me like they've cut away part of the plastic housing, so replacement means the complete heater unit.

I recently had the heater core replaced on my puma. When I got my vehicle back it appears a section of my aircon had either been removed or cut away to help them install the heater core. I am trying to work out if this section is a seperate part, or if it is a component of the larger aircon unit, and therefore what the repair options might be?
See attached photos, those with red are what it looks like post replacement

I *think* that is fairly similar to mine, i.e not sure that anything has been removed. It's not the world's prettiest arrangement...
However, I do have the aftermarket Mudstuff heater deflector: MUD Puma Heater Deflector (PHD) – MUD-UK. So it looks very different when it's in place.
Any chance you had one of these prior, and they haven't put it back?

There are a couple of options for replacing the AC core which I had done recently, there is an aftermarket Evap unit which means that the factory unit is removed and the old evap replaced or there is the dealer method where both are replaced at the same time. I elected to have the dealer do mine as I didn't want to do it myself. In my research I found out that to remove the core you need to remove the seats and flooring material to get the bottom of the housing out, I wonder if a short cut was taken in your case and the housing chopped to aid removal of the core?
