    2010 90 - PUMA ABS Modulator fail?

I have lingered here for a long time but today I decided to join and ask the Brains trust.

I have a 2010 Puma 90. A while back the Park and ABS light started to stay on permanently. My mechanic tried to find the fault but had a no show on the errors.
It's due rego and for obvious reasons he won't pass it with the above issues.

It seems like the ABS modulator is kaput.

    1. Does this sound like it is the issue
    2. If so I am looking for a new or second had one but seems like there are none anywhere in .au (I believe the part no. is LR031338* )

    *Incorrect see my second post

Try Triumph Rover Spares in South Australia. They were recently able to supply me with a used one.
British Off-Road on the Sunshine Coast may also have one.
    Good luck.

Thanks I just spoke with Triumph Rover in SA.
They were great and I'll grab the part from them.

FYI - just so other who may search for results in the forums

2010 Defender 90 PUMA with VIN no.s ending in PRE AA999999 - Use part no. SRB500550 [Wabco]
After the 2010 model year, The Defender used a BOSCH ABS and Traction Control System, requiring a different modulator.

this is the info I found online - Please do your own research but I found this all here

Hope it goes well with you.
The one they sent me, which they said had been tested, initially showed 'driver's side rear wheel open circuit' on the code reader, but my mechanic says there is nothing wrong with the sensor, so he is trying to work out what's going on.

    Thanks.

Hope yours does as well. It seems like a bit a difficult part to source, fix, replace etc.

I had read that one issue could be the lack of use. ie not engaging the ABS or TC often enough. I think once installed I'll do a few drives and get the unit working at least once a month.

So for anyone that knows... Is the later Puma ABS and traction control improved over the earlier Wabco system?

Yes they had the next generation TC,but I don’t know from what date,or whether it was when the hardware was changed.
I thought it was a software change only, and was later than 2010.

I just remember Gordon from GOE mentioning it,but he is not around anymore.

    Sorry,not much help.

Hmmmm, my understanding was that the ECU part number : SRD000110, was used right throughout defenders from the first TD5 to the last 2.2 (if they had ABS of course).

It would be really interesting if they did change, but I can't verify ATM.

I can see the modulator was changed, but can't find the ECU.

Yes, slamming on the brakes for several emergency stops initially caused mine to work again, but then the fault returned and won't clear.
I was told it's an unusual fault and the units are normally reliable.

*yes, the later 2.2 uses a bosch much like a d3 with the plug assembly on the side.

*issue from where I sit is more likely the moisture content of the brake fluid has been high for a lot longer than it should be in the hydraulic system and thus corrosion has formed making the shuttle valve sticking at random times.
