Tdi 110 bulkhead replacement - who's done one?

Interesting, oddly enough the stainless bulkhead is no dearer than the gal one from Shielder. Thankfully my rust isn't quite as bad as pictured..

I went to the Maer website because I was going to link their gal bulkhead; last time I looked, they did a galvanised bulkhead that was specifically built in one layer in all areas, to avoid the problem that reportedly exists with some of the gal ones where there are two or more layers of metal overlapped in some areas. The first stage of the gal process is an acid dip, then a neutralising dip, then the zinc bath. The acid can get into some areas and then not be neutralised and then the zinc not get in there, so you end up worse off than not galvanising. It appears they have superseded their bulkhead to stainless. The price appears about the same.

I forgot to mention, the building in question was at the top of the cliff at Anson Bay so had a lot of salt spray deposited on it over the 7 years years between being built (1983) and when I was manager of the site 1990-93 (OTC's ANZCAN submarine cable station).

Interesting, must have been a very high maintenance site with all the electronics and corrosion
