Help needed finding part number for 85 county rear disc pads.

    Hello wise forum.

According to my local mechanics resources and repco’s computer, my 85 County does not exist so it’s a bit hard to find the part number I need for the rear disc brake pads.
    can anyone help?

I think you may have more problems - your 85 County left the factory with drum brakes at the back!

It is possible that the wording is wrong, and they are actually drum brakes, but also it is quite possible it has been updated to disc brakes, presumably off a later Defender.

It seems almost impossible to find part numbers for pre-87 coil sprung Landrovers, but I'm pretty sure the brake shoes remained the same for all rear drum brakes on coil sprung Landrovers - and are interchangeable with Series 3.

I ventured down that particular rabbit hole chasing info on your stub axle, John. It is of course highly likely that a 40 YO LR has been modified in its life.

I think its Bendix that puts actual size illustrations of brake pads in their cattle dog. Could be worth tracking one of those down and comparing a sample with the countless LR variants pictured within...

To say it’s been modified is an understatement so that makes a lot of sense.
Here’s a pic. Can anything be gleaned from it?

Ring Brad at KLR Automotive. It may have had one of their disc brake conversions fitted.

KLR's rear disc brake designed specifically to replace the rear drum brakes on the 4x4 Perenties. This kit will also fit the 110 County models with the Isuzu or Rover V8 engine. No modifications to the brake booster or master cylinder are required. This kit includes new hubs and rotors, new calipers and pads, new wheel bearings and hub seals, all mounting hardware and fitting instructions.
    (Emphasis by me.)

To me that looks quite a lot like this one:

    Land Rover Parts - BRAKE CALIPER ASSY - L/ROVER (DEFENDER 90 to 2007)+(DISC 1994 on)+(R/ROVER '92 to '94) (RHR)

    Hi,
As John said, it had drums when new.
This is a photo of my 95 Defender right rear disk, I'm guessing it's thd same.
