Defender 110 remove and replace back sliding windows

    Hi all,
For security reasons and sleeping in the back of my defender; I want to remove the back sliding windows and replace with 3mm checker plate. I'm thinking this can be done without removing the frame as per REMOVE BACK SLIDING WINDOWS & FRAMES for easy Gullwing Install on Land Rover Defender - YouTube.

Can this be done by installing a new rubber seal to hold the plate in situ?

    thanks in advance

I've thought similar but no, you have to remove the frame.
That video looks like a pretty messy way to do it, and it can be done without destroying the frame.
assume you have read thru this thread

You will need to remove the inside lining and that will expose plastic clips that have to be removed.
That is the easy part. Then you have to remove the frame by prying it off, which is stuck on with sikaflex. How I did mine was to place a couple of layers of duct tape around the frame to protect the duco and then work at it by prying it off with a small paint scraper and using a small screw driver by carefully twisting it. I then had to pull the frame apart and renew the sliding glass, that was broken due to an issue in Alice (say no more).
Mine is a 2012 puma and I know the TD 5 was the same not sure of the earlier ones though.
    Lindsay.

tg888 - you won't be able to respond because you aren't a subscriber.

You incorrectly posted in Ask a Moderator probably because it's one of the few places a non-sub can post. I moved the thread to this (correct) section.
