I'd be sorely tempted to just wire the immobiliser circuit to earth, maybe with a relay and a hidden switch for immobilisation.

After about 3 yrs – since xfer case intermediate shaft re-bushing and rebuild I have not had a 10AS immobiliser issue. Unfortunately it has again raised its ugly head. On a tray to get it home, disconnect both plug on the module and leave it overnight, reconnect plugs in morning and “starts”! (Cranks)
Using the awful LR circuit diagrams and using the appropriate connector numbers , another book! I managed to “pin out” the plugs and relate them to their respective wires and circuits.
Long story – short, by following the various wires to sources and destinations I have nutted out that all the ECU does is to provide earth for the “start relay” This sort of concurs with some of my other (aftermarket) ECU computers. In the main they only complete many circuits by providing switching to an earth for signals from and to microprocessors , transistors and mosfets etc. Either on of off!
In the puma 2.4 the immobiliser output is fed through the instrument panel and then to the ECU. If the ECU doesn’t get the correct signals it will not provide an earth for one leg of the start relay .
However, the actual instrument panel doesn’t care and all the instruments, lights etc work. Sucker just won’t crank – that is the actual immobilising function. No crank no start!
As far as I am aware there is no fuel cut off immobiliser function, apart from the “shutdown” from the ECU when keyed to “off” and it switches off the injectors.
So, thinks if one were to provide a separate switchable earth path for the Start Relay to ECU line the 2.4 will crank, and if he cranks he will start.
A get home mode??? One would still need to pull the plugs off of the immobiliser module, wait, and replace to get back all of the other related functions, door locks etc.
Comments thoughts suggestions????
