200 TDI Defender 110 1993 Clutch Cylinders & Flex Pipe

    Hello All,

Is the clutch master cylinder, clutch slave cylinder and the clutch flexible pipe/hose for a January 1993 Defender 110 with a 200 TDI fitted the same parts as those fitted to Series III Land Rovers? Because I own some 1974 Series III Land Rovers the pictures accompanying the Defender parts seem to look very familiar. Are the three hydraulic related parts the same between the Defender and the old Series IIIs?

    Kind regards
    Lionel

They are similar - but I suspect that Series 3 uses imperial threads and 110 metric - so look out. Also note that the S3 V8 is different to the four and six. I don't have a parts book for the 110.

    Hello John,

Thank you for your reply. I could have had either of the clutch cylinders give up the ghost today in Snowy - my 1993 Defender 110 with the 200tdi.

I then remembered that I had some TRW manufactured ones stored away for one of my Series III. When I went online to check the availability of the Defender 200tdi clutch hydraulic cylinders they looked very similar to the Series III ones. I then thought it would be good idea to ask more experienced minds who have more practical experience than I do.

It looks like a new parts order will be placed tomorrow.

    Kind regards
    Lionel

    Hello All,

Just did some digging on the internet. It looks like the clutch master cylinder did look familiar to my Series III parts. This description is shared by multiple suppliers online

Land Rover Defender & Series 3 Clutch Master Cylinder STC500100 with more details describing... This means that this part is suitable for the following vehicles: Land Rover Series 3 all Defender models up to 2010

Next to check the slave cylinder ... Clutch Slave Cylinder for Land Rover Series 3 LT77 200Tdi 591231 - looks like the apple from the Series 3 ... 2.6 litre motor did not fall from the tree with the arrival of the 200tdi!

Tomorrow I will go fossicking throughout my clutch spare parts shelf! Might save myself some money!

    Kind regards
    Lionel
