    Warn winch remote battery charging

    Hi Team

this is an odd question for the LandRover Defender section. My 130 has a Warn winch in the front about 9500 lbs from memory.

It comes with the standard hand grip remote control. I can’t recall ever charging it in 12 years and the remote does not work plugged in through the cable, only remotely… ( Bluetooth?)

While it still worked last year I am worried the batteries are going to fail when I need the winch. So I want to recharge or replace batteries.

I have been to a couple of places and nobody seems to know how to replace the batteries. I have it on good authority that I need to replace the whole handset with a new one.

Is this true? If so will the new one operate my old winch both through cable connection and remotely ( Bluetooth?), or will need to be configured to
    my winch?

    Any advice appreciated

    Alan

I am not sure what you have , but my 9500 warn has the plugin hand piece , no battery , works off the 12v to the winch .
I dont have a remote , but the ones I have seen dont plug in .

Some hand pieces need to be unscrewed and take an er14505 battery with the pigtail and plug and some (if you're lucky) take AAA's

Pretty sure you have two options
    - AAA Batteries or
    - It recharges when plugged in

I have attached a page from the somewhat ambigious manual
