I disagree.

you get shot in the left shoulder joint, as a result you loose 75% of your mobility and about 70% of your strength in that joint. this gives you just enough reach to get to a modified gear shift lever but not the hand brake. Steering you can still do right handed and have power steering fitted if you need to

other than the gear shift, hand brake and steering (and lets be honest its not hard to retrofit an auto if you really need to) what other primary controls of the vehicle are you doing with your left hand? (and if you want to go the american route, just swap the shot shoulder)

Personally if I ever get a partial upper body disability a defender stlye landy is what Im going to be going for, Any vehicle I'd pick would need mods anyway so why not get something that is easy?

With the greatest respect, I think it's ok to be an outlier.

How are we going to operate the centre differential controls? The air vents (driver, passenger). Slam the doors? Who's going to hold the wheel while you fiddle with the AC. Never mind that - how are you even going to hoik yourself up into the car without your left arm or many other disabilities?

Personally I would think it would be greatly easier to get any number of cars with light controls and push button (or turn dial) 4x4 controls.

I like driving my defender, but it's a workout in itself. I'm ok with that but I don't expect anyone else to like it. I know it's not for everyone.

I reckon I could find any number of peope who would rather be shot in the shoulder than drive a defender. [bigrolf]

This is exactly why I'd have a shed class defender or series. In stock trim its a walk up and sit in, no hoiking required.

yes, we let them drive toyotas nissans and mitisubishis.
