    Dumb A/C question

My daughter's partner has bought a 2011 Defender 90. The A/C is working fine, but drains cold water onto the passenger floor.
I have looked in & under my 2012 & can't see where the drain is/should be going through the floor.

Any guidance where to find where it should be would be much appreciated.

    Hi Larry,

I think you'll find that the 'duck bill' rubber valve on the drain is clogged with dust that has become mud. It is located above the bellhousing. To reach it requires you to channel your inner contortionist. I've sold my Puma, but from memory I recall accessing it from underneath on the passenger side. Run your hand (palm upwards) up over the top of the bellhousing and you will be able to feel the rubber valve. Wipe the dust/mud away and check that it isn't blocked. It should fix the problem.

    Good luck,
    Jason

"Duck bills" were a weak point in the Volvo 240 and 740 also. I used to gut a bic biro, wash the ink out of the tube and shove a bit of that through the rubber to create a very small, but clear water path. The water would seep around the tube as well as through it. I'm talking about the ink reservoir, not the bit you hold.

If you can,a long cable tie shoved up the hole and twisted around a few times will help loosen any rubbish in the drain tube.
Doing this while water is coming out is best.

Previous advice is probably on the money.

However, despite intelligent design there is always someone who finds a way around it to create a problem. Corolla passenger side floor soaked. Days before, a mechanic had done some simple work under the dash - it was easily seen that on finishing up the mechanic had pinched the aircon drain pipe high up under the dash - from above the pinch water leaked out.
