Very noice! First off road trip? Looks awfully clean![]()
Hi Didge,
It does look a bit clean doesn't it. It does actaully get used for what it was designed for and does have the odd dirty weekend. I have been a 4x4 club member for 16 years now and my 4x4s have travelled a good bit of the country. Having said that, my fellow club members warn me if there is a mud hole coming up and generally rib me about getting the car dirty. I don't know why.![]()
Gday 4 wheeler. Love the wheels, wondering what brand they are.
Hi Rusnut,
They are Terrafirma 16 inch TF100 beadlock capable alloys. They can be purchased here on some of the sponsors sites or from overseas. In standard form they have no beadlock fitted. If the beadlock ring is purchased the tyre is fitted to the external face of the rim and locked on with the lock ring (not road legal). They are available in matt black, anthracite (gun metal grey like mine) or white. They weigh about 2kgs more than a Boost alloy rim. Check the Terrafirma 4x4 website for more details. Note that specifications are currently being updated as apparently I have been the only person in humanity to point out to the suppliers that information on the suppliers sites is wrong. Won't go into it further but ask suppliers to look at the specifications on the side of the box. That way you won't get any nasty surprises. Note that standard Boost alloy offset is +33. You following where I'm going with this?![]()
Thanks for that, bet you were peeved off when you dont get what you ask for, you would reckon they could get it right being in the business of selling wheels. They are nice though.
Rusnut,
All I can say is with 265's everything fits under the guards. Would not go wider.
I second that!
When warranty’s run out you could look at taller (255/85/16) if you really want to, but there is no gain whatsoever (except higher fuel consumption!) in going wider than 265/75/16.
Remember that sand "footprint" only works front to back on lower pressures, but wider tyres just increases your drag without adding much if anything to the footprint.
