But then maybe I'm a bit biased...

Mine will be 2 years old in April 2012 and she remains a work in progress.

Good luck and have fun kitting her out!

My bullbar is a Frontrunner (Dolium) supplied by Opposite Lock.

I preferred the look as the corners are shaped to resemble the OEM bumper (without the rubber caps). I'm also impressed with its strength and frontall protection. I had a wheel chock fall off a low loader in front of me and bounce off the LHS corner. Only damage was some powder coat came off. It's also survived (and more importantly, protected the car) 3 separate roo strikes.

Unfortunately I think they might have stopped importing them, but its worth checking with your local Opposite Lock branch.

    Cheers,

    Lou

    Fergus has been adopted

Now I know this is really boring but yesterday I picked up my adopted 2010 110 Crew Cab. I think I'll call him Fergus. Previous owner had looked after him pretty well and he has a few mods. I reckon I got pretty good value over a new one. This will be my first deefa. The other in the family is owned by 110pete. Oh does having a puma engine still qualify for being a true land rover?

The first thing I'll investigate is gettiing a good quality reversing camera. (It's not much chop looking through opaque plastic... ) Any suggestions as to reverse camera model and also where to mount it?? I'm tempted to get one that mounts onto where rear vision mirror sits. But where to mount the camera on the back? Oh would it be better to get an inboard nav screen etc and just plus a camera in? (I know, I know - I'm a complete noobie..)

The previous owner lifted Fergus and installed terrafirma shocks and what seem like very hard springs. Any suggestions as to a softer spring and whether it's a good or bad idea to remove sway bars?

Oh - Ive also got to learn how the two way works... (I;m glad Peter knows about all these things...)

    Now here are some pics.

Just waiting for some new driving lights... recommendations? And the bar could do with a winch - again recommendations? (What brand etc bar is this called)

It most definitely does! Every time Land Rover has changed something on their cars there has been blowhards complaining that Land Rover has lost the plot and the new vehicles cannot possibly be called Land Rovers... to name a few:

    Introduction of coils springs... sacrilege!!!
    Plastic dashboards...sacrilege!!!
    Winding windows...sacrilege!!!
    5 speed gear boxes... sacrilege!!!
    Electronic engine mapping...sacrilege!!!
BMW sourcing of 5 cylinder diesel engines...sacrilege!!!
    Ford supplied diesel engines...sacrilege!!!
Even more plastic in the dashboard...sacrilege!!!
6 speed gearboxes... oh this is the end of the world...!!!

Pumas are Defenders and will always be, as have every variant before it. People are stubborn and have engine preferences, I myself foolhardily have never owned a Td5 - for no actual good reason I must add...

    Rant over!

Stunning Puma you've got there and hope you have many years of happy Land Rovering!

    Cheers,

    Lou

Psst, the TD5/Storm was an all Land Rover design, the most BMW would have done was give it the go-ahead and maybe some detail stuff pre production.

It was the last true Land Rover engine, although as everyone knows the best Land Rover engine ever was the 4BD1T, which wasn't ever fitted to a 4x4.......
