I'm surprised that NSW charge an annual fee for plates. That would have put me of.
Indeed, there is no way I would cop such a large annual fee, the once off in Vic was enough ...

same here, no way i'd be shelling out every year for them. Even the 1 off is stopping me from getting them... although I am a tight arse.

I believe the company behind myplates is Plate Marketing Pty Ltd who has a multi-year contract with RMS (to rip off as many NSW people as possible, it would seem).

Though its not quite like comparing apples to oranges, I admit it is probably like comparing mandarins to oranges, but for comparison.......
http://www.dmv.org/fl-florida/specia...tes.phphttp:// gives an idea what other RTA's of different markets charge for similar. This is the DMV (Florida's RTA) charging $15USD for its personalized plates (plus reg fees=minor). Its depressing to think of the fees that are charged to us (optional of not) and they get away with! Then again that is why a price tag is the 'value' of something and not the 'price' to make it.
    Done...... off my soap box.

    Hey Andrew.

Nice Defender!. My 90 has just arrived into the country as well. She was on the Oberon and ported on the 15th of January. Did yours come over on the Oberon as well? They may have been neighbours on the trip over.
Waiting for mine to clear customs, get a compliance plate and PD.

All the best with the new Defender when you get her

    Regards

Thanks! Congrats on your 90 too, I'll look forward to seeing a picture of it when you get the keys. Mine was on the Asian King which I suspect left England a little after your car.

I've been told by the dealer that it can take up to two weeks from port to delivery, which is going to feel like an eternity

    Enjoy your new car
