Yes, the Defender is probably by far the best you can buy currently for Australian conditions - not only reasonable area of glass, but it is all almost vertical. And, apart from the 2007 model, the vents allow you to ventilate the interior while parked, without affecting security or allowing water ingress. The second best vehicles available today are probably the other utility type four wheel drives, such as the troopy and even the Hummer H1 (but not H2 or H3).

The fact that a black Defender is even thought of shows the change in the market for Landrover/Defenders. Until Landrover gave the four wheel drive market to Toyota and Nissan in Australia, they were sold almost exclusively to people who needed their capabilities. And as none of these bought on the basis of looks, they would not even consider a black vehicle if there was any other choice.
They are in many respects the most practical vehicle on the market, and black is the most impractical colour - they don't go well together.

The 'Fender SVX isn't released here until September this year.
It's the 60th Anniversary model of which only 36 110's will make their way to Australia. There will be no 90's coming here..which is unfortunate.
The question I had about Black was in reference to the fact that the SVX will only be available only in black.

oh its a pitty the 90's are not comming out they look the best by far
My '02 Defender was dark green and I considered even that was too hot. It also showed up every little scratch and dent. I wouldn't have a dark colour again. White is definitely the most practical. Although I'm sure the new aircon helps a lot.
