Ok so far after getting info from my mechanics engineer i will i only be able to go to a 5L motor in the wombat. so no gen III:mad:
looks like if i do the swap my best choice probably is a stroked rover 3.9L, or maybe a lexus V8, but they would be too much of a missio n to fit.
Apparently they are changing the mod laws in QLD in a couple of months and the engineer doesn't know if they will enlarging or reducing the allowable displacement for conversions...
I would get a second opinion on that, if it had a v8 in it as standard a 5.7 or 6.0 litre Chev should be OK, without going into what else has to be done. How else are 6.5 litre diesel v8s able to be put into Toyotas etc that were originally 4.2litre straight sixes.Quote:

as for weight, sure, clevelands are heavy, but a windsor with alloy heads and alloy intake doesnt weigh too much!
i will looking further into it,but another engineer has said no more then 4.6L, i still think rovers are a grey area no matter what you need to know!! i think you can apply to have a 'relaxation' as such, but i don't want to mess around with things that may alter insurance, etc.
still more homework to do.
Plus my mechanic guarantees me his stroked rover motors eat 5L commodores, etc for breakfast!:twisted: plus the ease of everything bolting together no adaptors, etc

Sorry, but that is a load of bull. I have had a stroked Rover motor and while good are not even a close match for a 5litre Holden, especially an injected one. I would really like to see his guarantee and how he is going to offer it.:oQuote:

what stroked motor did you have, 4.4/5 or a 5L? was injected with wolf or haltech?
I had a 4.2 (stroked 3.5) RRC. Was a great motor and a huge improvement over the standard 3.5/3.9. It was gas research system (dedicated lpg). I have also had 5 litre Holden powered vehicles and you really need to compare apples with apples. Comparing a stroked 5litre Rover motor with ugrades to a stock 5 litre Holden is not comparing similar products.
Hope this has not put you off. In fact the two engines are very similar ina lot of respects.
