    New OneTen User

Not owner, user (although maybe owner one day )

Dad has bought an 85 OneTen with V8. Pretty standard. Power steering, no aircon (vents, yay ) 4 speed box, foam air filters (must replace tehm with normal air filter) worn tyres, bullbar, winch and overdrive.

It's a white 5 door wagon, and though I think he should have bought a diesel, they are hard to find, and about twice the price of this one, let alone this one being local!

    So questions.

Anybody got a pic of a standard engine bay?

There is a clunk in the back, A frame brush or diff? only clunks when I change ghears badly really. Hopefully the a frame.

I'm sure we will have more questions as we go. Makes it ironic that I have a user manual (in the flesh) for one somewhere LOL

Get a tyre lever and lever on the A-frame ball joint. If there's any play, that's probably the problem. They are cheap ($30 - not the MaxiDrive unit!) but can be difficult to remove. You can buy adjustable ones.

Cool, will do when it's collected and I have the time. It shows signs of having done some towing, but everything else is pretty tight, so I think the ball joint is the culprit.

Also, do these normally have 3 seats in the front, or has the owner removed the storage box that I see there more commonly? Wonder if it's worth putting the box back in...

Most i've seen photos of are the same. I'll have to have a closer look, might see if somebody wants to swap.

Oh, and this one has 187000 km on the clock. Not too bad. A bit rough around the edges, but otherwise good.

There was two (possibly more trim levels). Some had a centre front seat standard some had a centre box.

the clunk can also be the A frame to chassis bushes too.
That's where mine came from, and it was play between the crush tube and bolt.
Thankfully shouldn't be the dreaded Defender 'axle spline gone' clunk, as it'll have oil lubed wheel bearings.
