We have a saying at work: "if that is the answer what was the question?"
On the odd occasion that I would need to carry another wheel I could spend some money on a roof rack and put that wheel on the roof and have something much more useful for other things.
There the latest must have.Every second patrol-cruiser in school car parks have them.Them school zones are tough!!. Pat

The thing thats funny about that is with the second tyre on and the family in the back it would go over it's GVM.Thats before you put fuel in the tank. Pat
Without sounding too critical .. for the recreational 4x4 owner, it must be one of the most ridiculous accessories ever made. I wouldn't fit one even if it was free ...

thats got to be really heavy wouldn't you have thought with that great big chunk of metal on the side.......i know it has to be there as the rear bumper encompasses the rear wheel arch also, but still Pat is probably right it probably would be over the GVM
my mates cruiser exceeds its GVM and thats with nobody in the car:o and he wouldn't be the only one
when i did my simpson trip i'm pretty certain i would have exceeded some limits of my defender as well
a while ago i was keen on a dual wheel carrier for the defender but i think i will stick with the bonnet mount and one on the roofrack when touring
Defender has a 1 tonne payload capacity, that's a fair amount to add on to 2t to get to the GVM of 3t. The LC200 only has allowance for 600-650kg's before it exceed its GVM. For comparison the D3's allowance is 800kg.Quote:
