Id go with double sided tape from super stuff it comes in varied thicknesses and will work to keep the crud out from under them if run around the outer edges and it comes in varied widths also as is cheap ...

As for fixing the bling i see that everyone uses screws/bolts the better method would be to use enclosed counter sunk 3/16 rivets which are available all ready anodised black and would look beta than a dagy phillips head screw that seem to rust by the looks of the previous pics....

So whats with the foam underneath the guards? That'll rot away fairly quickly once you hit a few bogholes. Surely if there has to be an underlay some rubber sheeting or a strip of silicone would be better options.

It's not rust mate - its dull dust. And as for the undercoating stuff rotting out - the checker plate has been on now for 1 year - the vehicle has seen plenty of mud splashed all over it - not to mention a sand blasting in 2 deserts, bulldust and the like. The edges are still 100% intact and show no signs of even beginning to perish. Extrapolating this - I'm very confident on them holding out for, let's make a guesstimate - mm, say at least the next 50 years. I'll be 94 then - so if they're shot then I'll hobble back into Austral and complain!

Ok sorry but the in the pics it looked to me the screws/bolts were rusting must be red dust/mud :angel::angel::angel:

What are they fixed on with are they a self tapping screw or are they a bolt ???
Did you fit them your self or have them fitted by the supplyer ????
What sort of rubber/foam backing was used ???

Like i mentioned before i still think double sided tape would do the job as most stick on trims and mouldings on cars/trucks are done this way and the tape has a good life span and should seal 99% of the crud out from getting under the covers and riveting would be my preferred method of fixing them on also ....

Lokka, I've got some genuine OEM ones coming. I'll post up pics and details of everything when they arrive and before I fit them. I'm keen to see how it all goes together. The bolts are contersunk and with a nyloc nut is my understanding. I need to get some ideas on the OEM to see what I'll do on my old Defender (to cover the dints :()

I wouldn't use double sided tape as this does not last well out doors or in extreme heat/wet conditions.
