The new 4.5l Duramax looks interesting.
It has a 72* bank angle and the turbo (and exhaust and catalyst and particulate filter) is in the V.
Inlet ports are cast into the outer side of the heads, directly above the valves, and the inlet manifold becomes the rocker cover.
It is designed to fit anywhere the petrol smallblock V8 fits.
310 HP, 520 lb/ft of torque.

And before anyone whinges that it's a GM engine, there's a fair bit of (mostly ?) Isuzu in all the Duramax's. :p
