Tony it is called a Hitch safe. I bought it from TJM. $149. It fits very neatly into the hitch receiver, locks into place securely and simply. A small removable tray is held in place by combination lock. A dust cover covers the whole lot and unless you knew it was there you would not see it.
Very small compartment though. Defender key and fob only just fit. Forget it with the SVX keyring.

    Hi Tony,

I received your private message - thanks! I am not sure whether you received my reply as I am not too familiar with that part...

    Hi Dullbird,

Not sure if this has been covered here before but it seems to be some confusion on service intervals.
    Book says every 20K
    Dealer said every 10K
Rang the dealer regarding when is the first service due - answer 10K.
    Sticker states 3K

And they want to know why people get confused!

The 10K seems safe but does anyone know when is the first service suppose to be done?

My dealer told me every 12,000 km (even for the first) or 6 month intervals.

They are warranting the car so who am I to argue.

The good book says 20,000 except when the conditions warrant a shorter interval.

I had the same guidance, first service at 3000, just to check evrything is holdign together I guess, though the service dept did not want to see it until 10,000. I understood the 10,000 was for oils and oil filter, with the 20,000 or annual being the full service and lube. So oil drop every 10k and full service every other.

Regardless, I intend to drop the oil every 5000, filters at 10,000. Mine is a fleet car so I don't really worry about trying to strech it out and as i intent to by it when the lease finishes, I want it over maintained, and I am the best one to do that anyway.

Has anyone noticed oil usage yet. I have found that oil level goes from full to about half on the dip stick hatchings in about 4000kms. or about 750mls. I have heard that is normal for these small TD engines. No leak, just a a bit of burn I guess.

Any chance you could put up a piccy of this hitch safe? And where it is stored?

    Cheers,

    Nigel

I used 1/2 litre in the first 12,000km. Now 6000 km after that service "not a drop" used.

Actually it can be 5,000km for arduous conditions, dust, high temperatures, lots of towing etc. It's also 400 hours of operation if continually driven sub 16kph for >50% of daily drive.
