Good thread Clarkie. I know you used a defender rear axle but have heard of drum axle being modified for discs.
Another option used by the army 110s was to weld a plate on the pedal box to enable a bolt up of a PBR booster/MC from a EA Falcon. Not sure about connections.
I put the defender rear in my county years ago, and also had the poor brakes for a while. I ended up changing to vented callipers on the front (defender, not rangie, as they have bigger pistons) And still no difference. So i swapped the booster and master for a defender one also, and re-ran the brake lines for a twin circuit front end, and it stops like a defender now for some reason.

you can clean the inside of the vented rotors out of all the Mud ,just a high pressure girnie should do it :D:D
