265/75/16's on disco rims

Disco rims have a different off set to defender rims, so will make the tyre fit closer to the chassis by 5 to 10 mm. I did measure it but cant recall the difference. The off set will make the turning more limited too I suppose.

I like the 16 x 7 King wheels for offset and width.

Wolf rims (130 rims are probably the same) sit further out from the chassis than standard 5.5 rims.

I was soooooo tempted to buy 255/85 Bighorns at $280 each. Still regret not doing it sometimes. But decided to go 235/85 for availability in the event of a bad puncture in the bush and impact on torque/power when sand driving.

I run that combo in BFG, no problems! Towed a camping trailer across australia too, no problems. In fact I'm very happy with them. The first day I had the tyres on I noticed a slight, very slight, increase in body roll when I conered hard. On the second day I couldn't remember what it was like on the old tyres...couldn't have been that bad!

Sorry to correct you but if a defender 16x7" rim then offset is exactly the same as a disco at +33mm.

I run 265/75/16's BFG Muds on the past 3 LR 110's

No problem as they have been on 130 wolf style rims... diff offset...
they hit the radius arms only ever so slightly....

Reminds me.... Markets to get rid of those 235/85/16 BFG muds i have...

A mate runs this size MTR's on standard disco rims with minimal rubbing, on his '85 110. I'll probably go this way too, with BFG MT's, but the lower engine rev's at speed for the 255's are going to be really tempting!.

I've got disco rims with 265/75/16 mt's on my county, I find they only foul the radius arms when on full lock, apart from that they're fine.Never had any issues off roading etc

I also think this size looks right for the vehicle ;)

that's what I've run on the County for years (std D1 wheels + 265 mts)... & I've had little need to use full steering lock... just lets you know if you do...

I have yet to come across any good argument for changing from 235/85 16's (for the benefit of those in other states we in Qld can't modify rolling diametere more than 15mm).

Every argument I've heard for wider tyres is IMHO spurious, and they are more expensive as well !
