the noise could definitely be bearings I reckon dont know about the missing brakes though sorry
Nose is definately from the engine when the problem is occuring , the rattly noise speeds up and slows down with engine rpm.
perhaps there is two separate things going on?
have you had your head under the bonnet to hear the area where the noise is coming from with someone blipping the throttle.
dose the thishappen when the AC compressor kicks in??Quote:

Yes sound is coming from engine around vacuum pump area. As vacuum pump has been replaced and same fault occured with both pumps could it be something other than the vacuum pump ? I have looked at a breakdown of that area on RAVE cd and pump works straight off cam shaft lobe. My theory is the plunger/follower in the pump is getting stuck in and the noise is the cam lobe tapping on the pump plunger/follower. If this is the case why has this occured on both the old and new pumps.
