Euro NCAP doesn't do Defenders.
You mightn't be the only one with the fastest Defender on the Sunshine Coast. :p I regularly cruse around the 110-115kph mark on the highway...in fact I find it too easy to speed in a Defender! :wasntme:  (mind you it doesn't do much for the hearing or fuel economy :o so I try to limit my right foot...)
Edit: I've just made myself sound like a hoon! I'm actually a very safety conscious driver!! :o
And back on topic...I reckon the Defender is one of the safest cars out there - except in a roll over.
Wasnt the army doing burnouts recently at the ill-fated former Indy event on the Gold Coast?
I saw news footage of an ARMY defender ute with a monstrous header coming out of the bonnet making some serious noise, and looking mean and nasty.... wonder what kind of speed that engine does...
Maybe they will be in the LR showrooms before Christmas?
