Yes BigJon I do, ask yourself the question would you buy a car from Ali G? It might be a bargain, but the windscreen sticker with Ali on the drivers side and me bieatch on the pass side would be a bit of a put off.
Laws have changed over time but deep down people are still discriminative, especially when it comes to handing over their hard earned coin. If your buying a 2nd hand or modified car you have a level of trust in the person who has modded or repaired the car, and subsequently their work, if they are willing to cut corners to save time in something as simple as a post what other corners have been cut to save time whilst repairing or modifying the vehicle?
i agree with dobbo, i dont know the stig from a bar of soap but as stated he comes across as a few kangaroo's loose in the top paddock, no offence stiggy. that being said he may well be on top of things mechanically, BUT i still would not buy his 110 on the grounds of the issues that have been raised on here and the mannar in which his posts are written/worded.

Hi Guys,
Just read over Stiggs post (it seemed to get hijaked by matters relating to the English language...?)
So.....
Vehicle:
2006 TD5 Fender
94,500kms
Issues:
Leaking hub seal (still leaking....)
Handbrake cable (refused to be done under wnty)
Front Diff (done under wnty)
Use wise:
Heavy towing during the hay season
Off road (touring, mud etc).
Daily driver (10kms a day)
I love the TD5 motor for sure. Have a mate with an 07 Puma he has had all sorts of electrical dramas. Not sure l want to buy into that...?
Is having a TD5 with more than 100,000kms on it a liability waiting to happen?
Service:
I service it every 10,00kms myself (oil, air etc).
Have a it done 'properly' every 20,000kms.
Is it worth upgrading to Puma in the new year??
Thoughts???
Thanks,
Mike

I think you guys are really missing the point here, he doesn't have to sell his defender on here. He has had strangers come up to him asking him whether it is for sale...now what does that tell you? It means that nothing he posted on here matters, he still has people interested. And seriously dobbo, lay off, you are always having a go at him and it is seriously getting old. Stig is a good bloke who has helped me with my landy countless times, like Ron said, we all have different skills.

.... it may depend more on your tax accountant's views than anything else,
IMHE, owners with TD5s love them once the known problems are sorted, and I wouldn't think there is any specific reason to doubt their longevity if properly treated and serviced,
(I've never had a TD5 but it is on the cards that I would acquire one in the future),
BTW have you read Bundalene's views on the engine in http://www.aulro.com/afvb/projects-t...l#post1135711? ?

Yeah. Fair enough. Things like ABS sensors etc worry me...??
They are not cheap!!

this is often said about parts, but again, how often do we end up replacing them.... it certainly wouldn't be every year (in normal service)
I've had my D1 with ABS for 4 years now and I've not had that kind of problem arise yet, and if it does I regards the cost as being spread over the timeframe that the part lasts
