You have put our dreams back on track. I will ignore the brochure. It's page 89 in the SVX manual. Quite clearly 150kg.
With a 90kg tent we'll be close to the limit, but very well under it for insurance worries.

You must have heavy yaks! My tandem plastic sit-in touring kayak is only 34kg!

I think that the county/110 roof (the type with 3 ribs) would take more weight (structurally, not legally) as they are stiffer and have a heavier/thicker gutter. The Tdi and Td5 defenders have a weaker roof and thinner gutters. Not sure about the Puma.

A lot of it depends on how well the load on the gutter is distributed though.

The max weight quoted is not to do with how much the car can carry on the roof. That's heaps. The figure relates to how much you can carry without affecting the vehicles off-road specifications, sideslope etc.

I had 2 customers in the uk that abused there landy's (or should that be worked them hard??). Either way, one drove for 2hrs with a small tractor on his roofrack, and the other with about 50sheet of plasterboard up on the rack - granted they didn't offroad with the loads on but all was ok. The tractor bent the gutters a bit though!

My 2006 double cab book says 150kg but I know most suggest 75kg.

Weight distribution over the gutter length is more important than simply the total weight.
