COUNTY 5 SPEED

As I said in answer to your PM, I think the best option would be to use a 4BD1T and isuzu (truck) gearbox, with either a divorced LT230 behind it (simplest and easiest), or an adaptor like Dougal has.

An alternate option would be to find an LT85 (isuzu) bellhousing, and modify it to fit your R380 - like C H T has. I would not use an LT85 unless you stumble across one that has been recently rebuilt.

Either way you will need to change the ratios in your LT230 to 1.222:1 (disco) or 1.003:1.

I have a 4.4 EFI V8 county with the LT85 split case, I would like to know what you were doing to break that box??? The are tougher than an LT77 @ LT 380
BV73, I have a LT95 Izuzu box an transfer complete out of a county If that helps( would probably need a rebuild?)

i have had both in mine now and i think the lt95 setup flogs the hell out of the lt85 setup.

it might rev a little higher but drive ability is way better especially if you have a trailer hitched up or are loaded.

the lt85 setup always left me hunting for a gear that wasn't quite right, or that's what it felt like...

but i run 33's so that may have been the reason.

It depends on what 33's

In my experience the LT95 is a lot more drivable on a 285 x 80 R15 than it is on 255/85R16 the loss of .1 of an inch in circumference actually makes a difference

I would agree with you if we were talking about NA 110s, but I think your 110 must need the boost/fuelling turned up if it was like that.

Or - you could have swapped to 1.222:1 gears ;)
