Centre front seat in a new Defender

Hi all, I have 2002 defender which I removed the cubby box and fitted a centre front seat (6 seats).

Does anyone one know or have they done this in the current model Defender ?

Mate, keen to hear the answer to this one.

I used to have one in my ex-army SIIa, and let's just say you had to be on very close terms with the centre passenger - but for my young kiddies, could be an option when doing the extended lift scheme...

As ever, to be legal will need to be signed off my an engineer, with proper belts, plus new laws in place will mean I'll probably need a booster seat.

Would be the same here, though not for quite as long a period of time ... unless it's a Toyota, which seem to be able to get away with it.

They are listed on the John Craddock in the UK web site up to 2007, I have one in my 2002 defender and a mate has one in his 2005 defender.

So would think they may still be available but need confirmation....

In Vic you only need to prove that they came out of the factory the same year/model with a middle seat to get it registered as a 6- 10 seater. I took my 85 County in with a middle seat & rear seats & would have been able to (re) register it as a 10 seater, however it was previously reg in Qld as a 5 seater and I was going to remove the rear seats anyway. They said a sales brochure or letter from the manufacturer would be enough proof.
If what you are doing is a precedent, then it either has to be a seat with ADR approvals - xxxy- or get it engineered - also about $650.00
