Personally, I dislike subsidies for anything as we pay for them via our taxes. The current news "'More pain to come' as oil faces biggest weekly price surge since 1983"

$100 gallon hit may or many not be long term. The price jacking/clear rip off by Servos is painful for many. The usual ACCC warning to them AFTER they did it is as usual 'pathetic and toothless'

Petrol and diesel are the new toilet paper. Not suggesting everyone can travel free in a silly little EV like mine. I was supposed to take a CFA pool car for the last weeks fun. Driving to get one was almost the same as taking my car. Given the only real cost I have is depreciation, tyre every 40,000 and ridiculously long service periods which has matched the new tyre changes I prefer the EV.

I hope for everyone else the oil prices settle a LOT. Given the political/war/bombing and more it may be a lot longer than some predict. Not my problem except for the boat.

Honestly its everyone's problem as food and everything delivered is about to be price inflated yet again.

FYI the EV FBT discout isn't an outgoing.. it's just not putting the FBT or penalty tax on EV's for novated leases.

As I've said before.. it's actually less than the FBT gap - which is tradies lying on their tax and buying a DC ute for their wives to do the school run and go shopping with (and other dodgies). What messes with my head is they can tell you how much tax evasion there is but they don't actually seem able to stop it. Unlike the EV FBT discount it just doesn't ever seem to get a mention in the press.

I was pretty sure they were going to remove the EV deal immiently. They have said they are currently reviewing it. I'm quite confident that the current events will mean it's unlikely to be touched IMHO at least for the moment.

I expect all the EV's on the ground, and in the pipeline will be selling like hotcakes.

Car company games... It's unclear why the NVES makes engineering in Australia unviable.. but let's see if we can try and extort the government to drop NVES.

I've heard people say "I dislike Elon.. never buy a tesla". But IMHO if you don't want to buy from an evil car company.. walk, cycle, catch the bus..

I think it is more about doing business in Australia,which is extremely expensive,compared to many other countries in the world.

Ford also has a huge issue with NVES,their biggest sellers,and really their only sellers in Aus, are the vehicles that the current Government is trying to get rid of.

They haven't been as smart as,for example,Toyota,following the Hybrid innovation,and having a range of smaller vehicles,and some Evs to offset their larger ICE vehicles and their larger emissions.

There are also going to be others moaning about NVES.If it continues in it's current form,it will turn the new vehicle market here on it's head.All it is doing is trying to force us all into EVS,nothing else.I can't see it surviving,but then again,i can't see Albo and Co doing backflips.

In a couple of years time,when companies can't buy vehicles that do the job of the vehicles we have now,or have to pay huge costs for them,**** is going to hit the fan.There is no way a commercial ute or van is going to emit less emissions than a current Hybrid Corolla,or similar sized vehicle,and do the job of a current ICE ute or van,by 2029,the tech is just not around.
Many will just keep their existing vehicles,as will private buyers.Families with children need room,often travel,go camping,tow,etc,they don't want something the size of a Yaris.Many buy second hand,i doubt they will be hunting around for a vehicle that wont do the job their old one did,or anything electric.

The amount of emissions NVES will reduce is negligable in the whole scheme of emissions,what it is doing is causing huge pain for the new vehicle auto manufacturers,not much else,and it is only in it's first year.

Sure the EV manufacturers are not involved with NVES,but those vehicles are for a completely different market,and as one can see by their sales here in Aus,it has virtually stalled at around 9% of total vehicle sales per year.A small portion of the market want them and are probably happy with them,but they shouldn't be forced onto everyone,which is the Governments agenda.

Why is emission reduction only targeted at road vehicles, when rail, sea and air are not on the radar? Lobbyists? [bigwhistle]

ATO, Queensland Police and Queensland Transport have had joint blitzes on popular beaches where alcohol, rego (private or company) and logbooks are checked.

It is tax minimisation,not tax evasion.

Anyone who can,will,that is just a part of business.

FBT may also have to be paid on the vehicle,depending.....there are ways around that as well,more minimisation.
