Ok noted.. so it's just to be expected that business will dodge tax. Probably you're right.
Then I hope there are no complaints about the EV FBT discount then which is just encouraging choices we need.

As I've said over and over.. I concede that some DC's are definitely needed for industry/working. Some are actually used for peoples pastimes. For sure. But the majority of them are just filling roles for individuals that have always been filled by not DC's. (as I type this I watch my neighbours driving off to the office in their DC's... lol)
Ford has known about this since forever and are just hoping they can get out of having to do anything by extorting the government. I'm unclear why people have sympathy for multi national car companies. Stockholm Syndrome is all I've got. Look at these companies when they withdrew from local manufacturing.. as soon as they thought it wasn't lucrative enough they dropped us. They don't care. Why do we care about them?
It's going to be OK. It will not turn the car market on it's head. Foreign multinationals will continue to vie for a slice of the 1m vehicles we buy each year.
Good to hear... sounds like a token effort though.
They should head to the local school dropoff/pickup zones and get them there! Maybe even the supermarkets!
Have a read of this if you want to understand the favourable tax treatment for DC utes.
Exempt use of eligible vehicles | Australian Taxation Office
This is the cause of the "FBT GAP" and why they probably staked out beaches!
Sounds like the ATO is looking at it though. Maybe rather than worrying about NVES they should be trying to get that sorted.Quote:
Uses eligible for the exemption
FBT does not apply if your employee only uses your eligible vehicle for the following:
- travel between home and work
- travel that is incidental to travel in the course of employment duties
- non-work-related use that is minor, infrequent and irregular (such as occasional use of the vehicle to remove domestic rubbish).
Increased ATO Scrutiny on Fringe Benefits Tax | RSM Australia
Quote:
Why Vehicle FBT Is Under Heightened Scrutiny
Employer-provided vehicles remain one of the most common and highest-value fringe benefits. However, they are also among the most frequently misunderstood and incorrectly reported benefits under the FBT regime.
The ATO’s current guidance and published compliance focus areas consistently highlight risks in the following areas:
- Private use of employer-provided vehicles
- Incorrect reliance on “work vehicle” exemptions
- Inadequate, incomplete or invalid logbooks
- Incorrect treatment of employee contributions and after-tax payments
Its true, the NVES is the most ludicrous, ridiculous ineffective load of manure forced on us in a long time. Talk about a joke that will have no effect (other than flood our market with no-name flambe chinese throw-aways that will likely never sell).
Back beating the twin cab ute drum again. Doesn't it get tiresome? Yes all the tradies are buying one for there wives to drive. Guess how many women I see driving twin cab utes. Guess how many twin cab utes I see driving to my kids schools. Would you believe none .... absolutely none. Most have little pretend 4wd (aka: jacked up front wheels drive hatchbacks). Even when my kids were in primaray school out at napoleans... not many duel cab utes, and those you did see were usually towing trailers (yes even towing doing the school drop off).
There is the rare twin cab ute on the high school my kids go too. One is some automotive locksmith, the other is a builder. Guess how I know .... The damns things have sign writing down the sides of them.
Do you get this is all in your head yet ?
Lol.
Sure if you say so.

I am absoloutely out in the breeze on this one. No-one else has noticed, and it's all a fabrication. For sure. [bigwhistle]
Seriously.. read the last paragraph. There are no electric planes. Electric freight is still in it's infancy. So other than flying and driving less - what other options are there?
Quote:
Transport is an ongoing problem for AustraliaTransport is Australia's fastest-growing sector for climate pollution and is expected to be the top source of emissions by 2030.
This concerning trend has been driven by a shift to bigger, heavier cars that need more fuel, as well as more road freight. Domestic flights also factor into this sector.
Australia'''s emissions have dropped, but we'''ve got our work cut out to reach targets - ABC News
What is your point? You were saying women were buying twin cabs under there husbands businesses .... which is stupidity. When was the last time you saw a female driving a twin cab ute. What they all buy them and drive something else do they? Just to make sure we never seen them behind the steering wheel.
Twin cab utes are the "universal" workhorse. I just can't understand your insane hate of them. Are you envious 'cos your stuck with a useless electric throw-away that is good at pretty much nothing, where as a twin cab ute is function for nearly every situation.
just bizare, I really love this thread, it highlights the utter insanity of the looney left.
I can't believe you have me of all people constantly defending twin cab utes (that I personally can't stand and will likely never own, I just wish I could be nutty enough to let my prejudices blind me to reality).
Correct.
I know one thing it is a fantastic revenue collector, even in it's infancy.
I bet the Govt cant wait to get hold of the money and spend(waste) it somewhere.[biggrin]
I dunno if it is true, but i read that the actual exhaust emissions from a modern diesel vehicle, with Add Blue, has less particulates than the air going into the engine.
