As for the distribution infrastructure required to get power from these wind and solar "farms" (you know, the "farms" that don't actually produce stuff we need, when we need it but produce ****loads of excess **** we don't need when everyone elses roof is producing too), it costs a **** load, destroys actual farming infrastructure (you know, the stuff that makes the things we eat to survive) and destroys the value of farms (which means farmers no longer want to farm). So at the end of the day it turns valuable farmland into stuff we're going to bulldoze and try to find a place to bury in the next 20 years.

Yay renewables! I'd rather eat pork, lamb, beef and eggs.

And.. because we rely on gas peakers.. and we don't have a gas reservation system.. so the gas we use is really expensive (3 times what it was 10 years ago).. which is not helping the price situation.

Everyone is trying to milk it for whatever they can get. It's a total rabble. Trying to encourage private companies to do what you need with legislation is futile.

Probably they need to either nationalise it somehow get the rabble pulling in the same direction. Either option is really hard.. hence nothing happening.

Personally I don't blame renewables. IMHO this is just the privatisation lifecycle (I'm making this bit up). When they privatise an essential sector it always goes well for a bit. Eventually though it degrades into a mess.

Oh well.

EV's crash really well. The lack of hardware which gives lots of crush space, combined with actual new designs (not legacy designs) mean they are still the safest cars you can buy.

I remain convinced that PHEV have a pretty limited use case, and that they are being sold to people who probably could have had a full EV. Legacy manufacturers dishing up a dish they know they can produce profitably. Mostly they are being sold to people that are not mentally ready for EV's.

Persoanlly I think hybrids are a con, Before I give my reasons I don't own one and never will but do have friends and relatives that do so have experinced both driving and riding in them and have shared owners gripes and problems.
I regard hybrids as manufacturers attempts to be seen to be producing more efficient vehicles and also fudge there emissions, this also includes things like stop start features which is also a con as far as the owner is concerned.
They cost more, both to make, buy and use, how can anything that effectively has two drivetrains be anything but, stopping the engine and then starting it and immediately taking full load acceleration must lead to increased wear and tear on battery, starter and the engine itself. The starting batteries for these cars seem to have a relatively short lifespand and are bigger and more expensive to boot. Starter motors get a flogging, I know there are some that use the genny side to push the motor over or the electric side takes the initial load to get it moving but that's two drivetrains copping wear.
Then there's the fuel consumption when the battery is flat and it's running purely on liquid fuel, any additional load like towing sees fuel consumtion skyrocket.
Some may not agree with my take but there are a lot that do, so there are lots of dinosaurs around ;-))

Don't worry, I'm sure we will get rid of that ridiculous NVES next election. Its looking like one nation of all things is going to take out all the loony lefties with no common sense we have had in office for the last decade. Just look at the magic stuff the pink guy is doing in America. I'm sure I don't agree with most stuff in politics, but its good to see some common sense being applied. Today I see its not more "stop/start" crap.

Hopefully we can get rid of ANCAP in australia and there lunatic crap they are forcing on us. Imagine a car with no stupid screens, no stupid stop start, no beeping and ridiculous crap because you have gone near a white line, no slamming on your brakes for no reason..... What a car ... everyone will be lining up to buy it

Not at all, EVs are just a steaming pile of manure only the brain washed want. Its the same lefty morons that think they personally should be telling everyone else how to live, while not doing what they are screaming at others to do themselves. All these nutters just get the middle finger from me
