At that rate with only 270 Billion more panels we could power the whole world (during daylight hours). 😇

Does make you wonder why we canít do more here with all the sunshine we get though...

Because here, money IS the object!
Besides, just think of the size of the landfill they're going to need in 15 years or so!

if you are talking of disposing of old photocells, you dont need to.

just build on top of the old ones, this could be done into perpetuity.

PV panels don't degrade in 15 years , they degrade in the first 24 hours , then they are relatively stable .

I think the 30 year life cycle is more to do with obsolescence than ongoing degradation. In 30 years they will want to be changing them with some better tech for greater efficiency , or not , maybe we will be smarter by then & wont need to consume so much energy.

I'd be more concerned about the aftermath of a sandstorm!

I have some 24 year old BP Solar panels that disagree with you. They are down to approximately 70% of their initial output.
We're looking to replace them, not because they are old, but because they are degraded.

This was interesting. Its Business, not home for accounting and costing. R.O.I. with $220,000 savings per year might not take that long.

I have a mini version of this at my business.

Business can take the biggest advantage of solar - they can install huge systems and they are actually using the energy as it's made unlike most residential systems where the owners are away at the peak time of production. Without batteries at home the systems can't ever be as efficiently used as what business can do with them. When money is no object...
