China has positioned itself to lead the world in alternate energies and break free of the dominance of the oil cartel.
Australia has everything needed to also become a world leader in renewable energy, according to this report.
But it can only happen if we outgrow ideologies which prevent us from making the pragmatic decisions neeeded to establish the industries which can bring the benefits, as Thailand did with its car industry.
Do we have leaders who can think big and make it happen?

Why? Its clearly true that China is positioning itself to dominate the world through trade, and is being highly successful at it.
China doesn't want its future to be hostage to foreign oil supplies controlled by unpredictable and repressive foreign states like the Middle Eastern oil exporters and Russia, or declining superpowers like the USA.
The Chinese fought two wars to rid themselves of the British, who tried to get rich by making Chinese addicts dependent on opium the British were growing in India. They also fought another war to drive out the Japanese invaders.
The Chinese have always been fiercely independent. They are also excellent at business. Now they want to use trade to dominate world business.
We could learn a lot from them. National security is important and we are vulnerable. We only have 20 days of oil supplies. If that oil supply is interrupted, the trucks stop and we starve.
For example, we have abundant energy resources, so we should electrify all our major rail lines.
We should also encourage solar power on every building. We should also be installing lots of battery storage to be self-sufficient.
We should be manufacturing batteries, panels, electronic equipment, trucks, buses, cars and other vehicles, and exporting them.
To do that we need companies which are based here, not overseas, so they will serve our national interests.
